Every day our eyes are subjected to a variety of environments that can negatively impact our eyes. Too much screen time exposes our eyes to blue light which can cause digital eye strain. Allergies and air pollution lead to dry and irritated eyes. Sports and other outdoor activities increases UV damage to our eyes. Yet many of us take our eye health for granted. Oftentimes we assume we don't need to see an eye doctor unless we notice something is wrong. However, regular eye exams are important for much more than just finding out if our vision has gotten worse. The early stages of many ocular diseases don't have noticeable symptoms. Other chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can also negatively affect our eyes. Routine eye exams are one of the best ways to detect these conditions early before they can result in permanent damage and/or vision loss.
